Overview

Campo Base is an association that needed a complete digital overhaul of their existing platform.

The previous website was heavily outdated, suffered from slow performance, and had critical loading errors where key elements would fail to render. Furthermore, it lacked a clear information architecture and intuitive menu logic, making it difficult for users to navigate their content and find essential information about the association.

The Process

1. Discovery and Planning

I started with a deep-dive analysis of the legacy site and gathered strategic insights about the association’s identity and communication needs.

This phase included:

  • Technical Analysis: Evaluating the underlying code, server settings, and database performance to locate the root causes of the site’s lag and loading errors.

  • Plugin Cleanup: Identifying and removing a massive clutter of unnecessary, bloated, and outdated plugins that were slowing down the website and causing conflicts.

  • Image Optimization & WebP Conversion: Auditing the entire media library to compress all existing images and re-uploading them in  lightweight formats like WebP to drastically reduce page weight.

  • Security Assessment & Enhancements: Pinpointing vulnerabilities in the old setup and implementing robust security measures to protect the platform from future threats.

  • Architecture & Navigation: Defining a brand-new information architecture to map out an intuitive menu structure and outlining a content plan to ensure the association’s mission is clearly communicated.

Goals

  • Avada Theme Implementation: Rebuild the entire website using the Avada Theme and Live Builder per the client’s specific request.

  • Complete UX/UI & Visual Redesign: Overhaul the entire visual identity of the website, creating a modern, cohesive, and professional aesthetic that elevates the brand while maximizing user experience.

  • Restructure Information Architecture: Design a logical, intuitive menu and navigation system from scratch so users can easily browse programs, activities, and information.

  • Multi-language Integration: Seamlessly integrate and configure Polylang within the Avada ecosystem to ensure a smooth for both Italian and English versions of the website.

  • Boost Web Conversions: Strategically place clear calls-to-action (CTAs) and optimize user flows to increase specific conversions: making it easy for volunteers to sign up, ensuring families can find the support information they need, and enabling patients participating in the programs to easily access resource details.

  • Maximize Performance & Security: Optimize the Avada setup, clean up the database, deploy fully compressed WebP images, and strengthen site security while drastically reducing loading times.

  • Fix Loading & Display Errors: Solve all technical bugs to ensure continuous uptime and that all multimedia and textual elements load seamlessly.
